چکیده
A multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) with occurrence of onset REM periods (SOREMP) is considered one the central diagnostic criteria for narcolepsy according to International Classification Sleep Disorders, but its sensitivity and specificity have been questioned. This study aims describe MSLT polysomnography (PSG) findings, including frequency distribution SOREMP during day, in a large cohort patients disorders hypersomnolence (CDH). We retrospectively analyzed electrophysiological data from PSG 370 consecutive type 1 (NT1, n = 97), 2 (NT2, 31), idiopathic hypersomnia (IH, 48), nonorganic (NOH, 116) insufficient syndrome (ISS, 78). NT1 NT2 had significantly shorter mean Latency (mSL) REM-Latency (REML) PSG. occurred more frequently narcoleptic vs. non-narcoleptic Occurrence 3 or very high positive predictive value (98%/96% 100% respectively), however relatively low (65% 45% respectively). than mSL frequent SL as well REML nocturnal Increasing numbers especially increase on expense diagnosing narcolepsy. Therefore, naps can help discriminate not clearly separate patients.

Sleep Perception in Obstructive Sleep Apnea: A Study Using Polysomnography and the Multiple Sleep Latency Test
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Discrepancies between objectively measured sleep and subjective sleep perception in patients with insomnia have been reported. However, few studies have investigated sleep-state misperception in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). We designed this study to 1) delineate the factors that could affect this discrepancy and 2) infer an underlying mechanism in patients...
متن کاملComparison of Polysomnography and Multiple Sleep Latency Test Findings in Subjects with Narcolepsy and İdiopathic Hypersomnia.
INTRODUCTION Both narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia are the main causes of excessive daytime sleepiness. In this study, we aimed to compare polysomnography (PSG) and multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) findings in narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia patients. METHODS The files of patients with narcolepsy and hypersomnia who were admitted between 1995 and 2009 were reviewed. We evaluated ...

The multiple sleep latency test and the maintenance of wakefulness test were administered on the same day to 258 consecutive patients whose clinical presentation required evaluation for excessive sleepiness. While the MSLT is the standard test for assessing excessive daytime sleepiness, the MWT may have some clinical advantage over the MSLT when the assessment of daytime alertness is the primar...
متن کاملKleine-Levin syndrome. Clinical course, polysomnography and multiple sleep latency test. Case report.
A case of Kleine-Levin syndrome, with chronic severe periodic hypersomnia is described in a 17-year-old female. The first episode started when she was 15 years old. The episodes were characterized by periodic hypersomnia accompanied by hyperphagia, lasting 5 days, and repeating at 28 to 60 day intervals. The severity of hypersomnia prevented her from attending school activities. Outside the hyp...
متن کاملEnhancements to the multiple sleep latency test
INTRODUCTION The utility of multiple sleep latency tests (MSLTs) is limited to determining sleep onset latency (SOL) and rapid eye movement sleep latency. The odds ratio product (ORP) is a continuous index of sleep depth with values of 0, 1.0, and 2.5 reflecting very deep sleep, light sleep, and full wakefulness, respectively. We determined the time course of sleep depth during MSLT naps expect...
